Marshmallow Building

I feel like I've seen this post all over Pinterest ever since I became a mom. It was something I always wanted to try with my kids. I recently ran across it again and figured to give it a shot!

What you need:

A pack of toothpicks

A pack of marshmallows

Trust in your kids to not gauge their fingers to death from the toothpicks

The ages of my kids are: 5, 4, 4, 2, 2. The two year old twins are just a few weeks away from turning 3, so I'm not sure I would allow a freshly-turned two year old to do this.

I did some major explaining of how sharp the toothpicks were ahead of time, ensuring they at least were warned before going at it. And guess what? Nobody injured themselves! So that alone was a major win.

I have to say, it was really fun and interesting to see all of their little imaginations at work. It was awesome to see how different each of their creations turned out. The big 3, for the most part, made some form of a building. Lennon started off making a flower that ended up being a person, according to her. Halen had very little interest in this whole thing except for doing a few sticks and eating them.

Macaroni & Cheese face!

I think it was really good activity for them to work on their hand-eye coordination as well as using their inner imagination. They loved it!

Have you ever tried this? Would you brave it with your own kids?
